Stress treatment, stress relief and stress reducer tools

Blog Stress

I just experienced a new type of stress, blog stress. The last 2 days I have been trying new hosting companies, changing domain name servers, waiting for them to propagate across the Internet, upgrading and falling back on WordPress levels, trying new themes… Way too many variables.

For 2 days this blog has been marginally available at best. I have been struggling with one of my hosting companies over response times… (their server hosts this blog). If you want gray hair, this is what you want to be doing. My adventures are not over yet, but at least the blog is online.

Well I guess I am using a very popular stressreducer here, venting. Prior to writing this and letting go of some stream, I found myself doing a lot of deep breathing (another stress reliever) and took a couple walks and had a couple of beers. It’s better than punching or tossing my computer (cheaper too).

This experience just reinforces my need to have stress management techniques for times like these. If you are a blogger or a webmaster, you know what I am talking about. So keep these stressreducer techniques in mind. They work!

Financial Stress Reduction

Finances are one of the biggest stressors in our modern times in this capitalistic society/economy. There are 2 ways to reduce financial stress: reduce debt and financial obligations or increase your income.

This is to be his best 30 Day Challenge yet. I am not sure why he does this: Karma, religious reasons or maybe he’s just a nice guy.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – PTSD

How PTSD affects the Brain

A common sense approach to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – PTSD. What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD? Sometimes referred to as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome or PTSS. It is a powerful memory or impression in one’s subconscious mind (memory) with a powerful emotion attached. The combination of a powerful memory with the attached powerful emotion is what makes this so impactful to one’s life. Sometimes the event is so disturbing that the conscious mind will bury the memory so it cannot be consciously recalled to protect the psyche from overwhelming pain and emotion.

All things are recorded in the subconscious mind and whether or not they can be consciously recalled, they are still there and have the same impact to the individual. The memory will keep surfacing until resolved. The event is so traumatic that the conscious mind is unable to process – at the time of the event or upon re-surfacing. The psyche will defend itself by denial, disassociation, “going to another place” alternative de-stressing behaviors such as alcohol or drugs…

To alleviate PTSD it must first be identified, the event brought to the conscious and the memory and emotion “released”. The emotion actually has a physical feeling associated with it and that is how you “feel” the “release” working. The process may take time, but the “unease” associated with the traumatic event gradually disappears. Talking about it (therapy/counseling), helps identify the issue but does nothing to relieve it – it may even reinforce the trauma making it stronger. That is why the natural response is to ignore or not want to talk about it. This is only half of the solution.

The Release Technique was discovered by Lester Levenson, a dying 42 year old physicist who despite all his knowledge and success, had destroyed his health by stress. Harvard, Columbia, Princeton and UCLA Universities researchers validate effectiveness of Release Technique Program.
