Panic Attack and Stress Management
June 23rd, 2008
Panic attacks can be debilitating to those affected. Some are afraid to leave their house for fear of “losing it” in public. The fear of losing it in public multiplies the the anxiety and feeds this viscous circle. Like a microphone and an amplifier caught in a feedback loop, where the sound from the amplifier is picked up by the microphone and gets louder and louder until something blows (a fuse or the amplifier).
Panic attacks and anxiety are both negative thought processes that like the feedback loop example above, feed and strengthen the bad thought process. It is an irrational thought pattern that serves no purpose - it is an un-truth similar to a phobia which is an exaggerated fear.
How one gets caught up in these bad thought processes varies, but to break free requires:
* Identify the bad thought pattern
* Identify what feeds it and stop it
* Cease all negative self talk
* Program positive thoughts in your subconscious
* Desensitize “what” makes you panic (baby steps)
Lets say you panic in social situations. Generally it’s source is low self esteem or other self destructive pattern. Always cutting yourself down or listening to and believing others cutting you down especially when a strong emotion is attached will eventually have you believe it. As far as the desensitizing, you have to face your fears a little bit at a time. Myself, I was arachnophobic until my twisted family bought me a tarantula for my 35th birthday. It took me a month and a night after bowling (and a couple of pitchers of beer), but I held the tarantula! The tough part was doing it sober, but I did it - a little bit at a time.
Panic attacks are negative patterns repeated over and over until they have validity. The subconscious does not know the difference between real or imagined - they have the same impact. So whatever you feed your subconscious, your subconscious will “make it so”. The subconscious remembers everything, real and imagined or false.
The subconscious does not “think or judge” it simply stores everything, good and bad. You reap what you sow. Garbage in, garbage out as we say in the computer programming world. This applies to your subconscious also. That is why it is important to control your self talk. Avoid saying anything negative about yourself. Only allow positive words and thoughts to come out of your mouth or exist in your thoughts. If you catch yourself saying or thinking something negative, stop it right there.
It is important to feed your subconscious with only positive self talk. If someone says something negative about you, say to yourself that is only their opinion and it isn’t true. Ever notice someone who is perceived as clumsy, often say out loud “I am so clumsy” or “I have always been clumsy”. These negative affirmations just reinforce being clumsy to the subconscious mind. The subconscious follows orders and makes it so.
This is the same concept as in manifestation. What you focus on becomes your reality. It is a little more complicated than that but essentially the same. you can focus on the negative and you will receive negative or focus on the positive and receive good things. If you focus on wealth, achieving wealth and the activities that contribute to wealth - you will attain it. If you focus on the lack of wealth, being of the “victim mindset”, you will achieve “lack of wealth” and you will be “a victim”.
There can be chemical imbalances in the brain, but is it any wonder when we feed ourselves nutritionally devoid foods, load up on toxic preservatives, artificial colorings, pesticides, herbicides, artificial fats and oils, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, poisonous sugar substitutes… It’s a wonder our bodies hold out as well as they do. This toxic overload alters normal bodily processes and creates a storm of free radicals damaging our DNA!
Alcohol, smoking, pollution, lack of fiber, poison sodas, fake sugars, fake fats and oils, “low fat”, processed foods, homogenized, pasteurized… are just some of the abominations to our diets, in other words “frankenfoods”. Is mankind smarter than our creator? Does mankind “improve upon our food supply with “science”? We have stripped nutrition from our foods. The vitamins, minerals, enzymes - all gone. It’s no wonder our minds aren’t right when we are running high performance race cars on kerosene.
Nutrition will affect brain chemistry so don’t stack the deck against yourself, take care of your body (and mind) - eat to live, don’t live to eat. Get in a healthy diet lifestyle and get some exercise. Enough about nutrition in regards to panic attacks and anxiety (one last thing though, caffeine and sugar highs and drugs are all bad ingredients for anxiety - there, I’m done).
Hypnosis can aid in releasing bad memories, inserting positive thoughts and aid in establishing a positive mindset. It does this by bypassing you conscious mind and its “thinking and judgment” which may be sabotaging what you are attempting to achieve. Subliminal sound and video can flood your subconscious with positive thoughts and affirmations which will outnumber your negative thoughts and become the predominant mindset. “Releasing” will aid in getting rid of garbage negative thoughts (and associated negative emotions) and allow you to progress towards your goals - any and all goals.
This is not the typical psycho-babble or Oprahfication you may have been expecting, but it goes beyond “theory” and “talking” about it and is a bit more action oriented. Remember, psychology is not a proven science - it is merely theories, and look how far years of therapy get people - not very far.
